You Get to Decide

Only you get to decide what happens in your life.

Yes you, and no one else.

I hate to break it to you but the blame game is worn out, and we are all tired of hearing it. It’s time to put an end to pointing the finger at the things “holding you back” and start accepting the hard truth that you are in control.

In control of it all. Not your boss, not your kids, not your job, just you. You may think these things control your life, but it’s the decisions you make that would have the appearance of this control.

If you’re not happy with something, it’s on you to change it.

These last 10 years have really opened my eyes to the excuses that people put in place in their lives for the reasons why they can’t do something. While the blame has been everything across the board, it’s never squarely on ones self.

It’s easier to blame something or someone else for why you aren’t able to do something. It’s also lazy as fuck.

If I were to rank the excuses time is usually the biggest one, with kids being the second, and a job being the third with the last two being correlated  directly to the time component.

I don’t have enough time. I can’t because I have to take care of my kids, meaning not enough time. I can’t because I have to do ‘x’ with my job. Again, alluding to the idea that there’s simply not enough time.

Here’s the thing. You make fucking time. You make time for what’s important to you. You make the DECISION to make time for what’s important to YOU.

Stop blaming time, stop blaming your kids, stop blaming your job, and start putting the blame on yourself. Blame yourself for not caring enough to take your health seriously. Blame yourself for not getting up an hour earlier to get to the gym or get some work done before everyone else is up. Blame yourself for not prioritizing.

This may be harsh, but it’s true.

So you have a decision to make right now, and its a pivotal one. Are you going to continue pointing the finger as to why you’re not doing what you want to or know you should be doing? Or, are you gonna put your big kid pants on and take control of your life TODAY?

Are you going to make the decision to change and actually act on it? Are you going to hold yourself accountable for why you’re not where you want to be?

Start realizing that you’re 100% in control of your life and the decisions you make. Stop blaming the things that you don’t have control over and start acting on the things that you can control.
